Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation bar. Choose whether you're joining as a mentee (student/resident)
or mentor (DPC physician). Fill out the registration form with your information and verify your email address
to complete the process.
What information do I need to complete my profile?
For mentees: Your medical school/residency program, year of training, areas of interest, and learning goals.
For mentors: Your practice information, years of experience, specialties, availability for mentorship, and
verification documents (medical license, practice information).
Is there a fee to join the platform?
Creating an account and browsing mentors is free for all users. Premium features like unlimited connection
requests and advanced matching tools are available with a subscription. Mentors can join for free and may
choose to offer paid or unpaid mentorship opportunities.
Mentorship
How do I find the right mentor?
Use our search filters to narrow down mentors by location, specialty, practice style, and availability.
Read mentor profiles carefully, including their teaching philosophy and ideal mentee description. Look at
reviews from other mentees. Consider reaching out to 2-3 potential mentors to find the best fit.
How many mentors can I connect with?
Free accounts can send up to 3 connection requests per month. Premium accounts have unlimited connection
requests. You can have multiple active mentorships, but we recommend focusing on 1-2 at a time for the
best experience.
What should I include in my connection request?
Introduce yourself briefly, explain why you're interested in DPC, describe what you hope to learn from
this specific mentor, mention your availability and preferred rotation length, and ask any specific questions
you have about their practice or mentorship style.
Rotations
How long are typical rotations?
Rotation lengths are flexible and determined by you and your mentor. Most rotations range from 1-4 weeks
for in-person experiences, though some mentors offer longer opportunities. Virtual mentorship can be ongoing
with regular check-ins over several months.
Do I need malpractice insurance for rotations?
Requirements vary by mentor and state. Many medical schools provide coverage for educational rotations.
Some mentors may require proof of coverage while others may include you under their practice insurance.
Always clarify insurance requirements before starting a rotation.
Can I get academic credit for rotations?
Many medical schools and residency programs accept DPC rotations for elective credit. Check with your
institution's requirements first. We can provide documentation and evaluations to support credit applications.
Some mentors are affiliated with academic institutions and can directly offer credit.
DPC Basics
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model where patients pay a monthly membership fee directly to
their primary care practice. This eliminates insurance billing, allowing doctors to spend more time with
patients, offer same-day appointments, and provide comprehensive care without copays or surprise bills.
How is DPC different from concierge medicine?
While both offer enhanced access, DPC is typically more affordable ($50-150/month vs $150-500+/month for
concierge). DPC practices don't bill insurance at all, while concierge practices often bill insurance in
addition to membership fees. DPC focuses on making quality primary care accessible to more people.
How do DPC doctors make money?
DPC doctors earn revenue through monthly membership fees from their patient panel (typically 600-800 patients).
Without insurance overhead, 85-90% of revenue goes directly to the practice. Many DPC doctors report earning
similar or better income than traditional practice while working fewer hours and providing better care.
